[SEJONG=NEWSIS] Reporter Lee Sang-taek = The biggest-ever Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo 2015 Kicks off in Shanghai.

On the 25th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) revealed that “the Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo 2015 (KBEE 2015) would be held in Shanghai in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Committee for the 70th Anniversary of Korean Liberation for three days starting the 27th.
According to the MOTIE, the event will be held to support entry of companies related to consumer goods, contents, and services to benefit from a Korea-China FTA into the Chinese market through linkage with the boom for Korean wave within China.

The event will bring together 107 Korean SMEs including REALCOCO, KOONS, COREANA, HB Entertainment, and ICONIX and provide an opportunity to hold business talks with about 500 buyers and investors from across China including Tencent, Suning, and JD.com.

In particular, “Prospective Investment Enterprises for Korean Wave Pavilion” will be established this year to provide cooperation opportunities such as joint venture, equity investment, and strategic alliance to about 40 Chinese companies including Shanghai New Empire Entertainment, DT Capital.

In addition, K-pop performances, Korean wave stars and fashion beauty brands matching show, etc. will be held to evoke heightened responses from the visitors.

Lee Gwan-seop, a vice minister of the MOTIE said that “the event would be the largest-ever Korean wave culture and business-related Expo, which would cause Korean wave products-thirsty Chinese consumers to trigger consumption of Korean products”, and “various support will be further provided to occupy the Chinese consumer market.”
